"My supply clergy and consultant experiences while serving the parishioners of St. John’s Church, Fayetteville, NC, have all been very positive. I have found parishioners very warm and inviting, many going out of their way to talk with me and my wife, Robin, following the Sunday liturgies."

— The Rev. Dr. Randal A. Foster

Welcome

When a small congregation of Episcopalians established St. John’s Church near
Cross Creek in 1817 they had no idea that almost 200 years later it would have grown
into a flagship church in the Diocese of East Carolina with a rich history and tradition.
St. John’s is located in the heart of Fayetteville North Carolina in a downtown setting
that has undergone an amazing transformation and revitalization.

The demographics of our congregation are diverse and are representative of a spectrum of backgrounds, economic levels, and career fields. We are made up of
families that have been members of St. John’s for multiple generations and others
that have been here shorter periods of time. Being near a large military base allows
us to minister to military families and has caused us to learn how to quickly integrate newcomers into the fabric of parish life. Some of our military members have multiple tours at Ft. Bragg and return to our church family when they return or decide to retire in the Fayetteville community.

We have a wonderful campus facility that links together historic buildings, worship spaces, and a multi-million dollar multipurpose room and preschool area.
These facilities compliment our parish programs and allow us to sustain important ministries for children, youth, adults, and outreach. Our preschool is operating at or near capacity and we have hosted the Diocesan convention, wedding receptions, youth events and church basketball in our multipurpose room.

We believe with our caring and welcoming congregation and our wonderful facilities we are poised to further God’s work in our community, to expand membership, and to further community outreach. We seek a rector who will lead us and challenge us to grow spiritually while honoring our rich heritage and tradition that make us who we are.

We are excited that you have expressed an interest in our search process and hope that this profile helps you get to know St. John’s better.

God's Peace,

Fred Klinck
Senior Warden

Almighty God, giver of all good gifts, unite us in love and open our hearts and minds to your voice. Grant us patience, confidence, and understanding to discern your will for St. John’s. Through your divine guidance, direct the person who will become our next rector to hear your call and to walk with us in living faith. All this we humbly ask in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
